I checked in with the Windows Live Writer dev team the other day; this bug still exists in the current version of Windows Live Writer 2011. They know that Windows Live Writer can cause this issue; they know it’ll crash Windows Live Writer and yet they’ve not fixed it.

There’s another bug with Windows Live Writer that’s worse with the auto-linking… Creating links that are faulty. Watch the video.

i did a search on my computer too and couldn’t find it so i guess you have to find it manually

if you have xp then it’s here

c:/Documents and Settings/[Your user name here]/Application Data/Windows Live Writer/LinkGlossary/linkglossary.xml

if you have wins 7 or vista then it’s here

c:/Users/[Your user name here]/AppData/Roaming/Windows Live Writer/LinkGlossary/linkglossary.xml

This seems really informative, thanks for taking the time to create this post about the fix. I am an extreme novice with programming/WLW/etc. Seem to be having trouble locating linkglossary.xml. Did a search on my computer and it’s not locating anything. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Getting very frustrated!!

I followed your instructions and the fix worked.

My system is XP, so the file locations were a bit different than what you found. I found the linkglossary.xml file in:

c:/Documents and Settings/[Danny]/Application Data/Windows Live Writer/LinkGlossary/linkglossary.xml
